Updated Goals and Deadlines

Some projects I want to perfect in order to put in my portfolio, so I will create an alternative schedule to extend my deadlines.

  • 2/7 - 2/25
    • Squirrel Hop: I will be using a squirrel ball rig to master the squash and stretch effect. Referring to the animated segment that I made during winter break, I will create a new project to expand my creativity.
    • Reference/Storyboard: 2-3 days, I will create a quick sketch to illustrate the direction I want it to take
  • 2/28 - 3/18
    • Idle: I will create a 3-5sec idle animation to understand body mechanics.
    • Reference/Storyboard: 2-3 days, references will include YouTube vids (SkullGirls, No Straight Roads, or TikToks) and recorded reenactments

  • 3/21 - 4/8
    • Walk: I will work on body mechanics from the beginning by animating a short 3-5sec walking cycle. This will help me work on frame spacing and the graph editor to create fluid motions. I expect to get creative with this and add a little flair according to the rig chosen.
    • Reference/Storyboard: references will include YouTube walking vids and tutorials, additional flair will be by recorded reenactments
  • 4/11 - 4/29
    • Run: I will create a 3-5sec run cycle. My goals are the same as that with the walk cycle, which is making the cycle as fluid and natural as possible. I also expect to add a bit of personality/creativity to make it interesting.
    • Reference/Storyboard: references will include YouTube running vids and tutorials, additional flair will be by recorded reenactments

  • 5/2 - 5/20 (Spring 2022 will end by this time)
    • Stunt 1 - Sakuga Run: I will go above and beyond to test my animation abilities. In this stage, I expect myself to get used to body mechanics and fluidity and incorporate them into a more action-packed scene. This is expected to be 5-7sec long
    • Reference/Storyboard: 2-3 days, references will include an online tutorial and YouTube videos for sprints and jumps. An additional storyboard may be provided to enhance the animation process.
  • 5/23 - 6/10
    • Stunt 2 - Gun Shoot: I expect to be creative with this animation. Aside from the gun shoot, I will combine previous works such as a run and jump, but may go extra to add a spin or tumble depending on my workload from other classes. I will also master parent constraint controls, since I had difficulty with them in the past. This is expected to be 5-7sec long
    • Reference/Storyboard: 2-3 days, references will be fully recorded reenactments. YouTube videos will be used to assist with various movements and sequences

  • 6/13 - 7/1
    • Act Sequence: The animations will focus on body mechanics, but will primarily focus on dynamic character expressions and fluidity. This is expected to be around 5sec long
    • Reference/Storyboard: 2-3 days, a quick storyboard sketch will be constructed to fully structure the animation sequence. YouTube videos and recorded reenactments will be used as references.
  • 7/4 - ?????
    • Stunt 4 - UNDECIDED
    • Reference/Storyboard: UNDECIDED
Ideally, I plan to follow my first schedule, but I believe that by allowing myself time, I shall be able to perform my best and to perfect any mistakes.
